CAUCUS IS THIS SATURDAY, MAY 10
To prepare for that election, Chatham Democrats will nominate candidates who will appear on the November ballot at our party caucus on May 10th. The caucus will take place at the Tri-Village Fire Company facility at 111 CR 13, Old Chatham.
Our nominating committee has been reaching out and meeting with potential candidates since January and is endorsing four candidates for nomination at the caucus.
All Democrats registered to vote in the Town of Chatham can attend the caucus and will hear from the nominees prior to voting.
Our Nominating Committee is endorsing the following candidates for the two open Town Board positions: incumbent Rick Werwaiss and a new candidate Lisa Simonetti.
Rick Werwaiss will complete his first term as a Town Board member at the end of 2025. He has proven himself a challenger to the status quo, an advocate for the collaborative authority of the entire board, and a key player in moving the board forward as a team. Werwaiss is currently Co-Chair of the Cellular Service and Broadband Committee, and a member of both the Financial Planning and Economic Development Committee and the Grants Appropriation Committee.
Lisa Simonetti is an active participant in the civic life of the community. A member of the Tri-Village Fire Company, she also serves on the Town's Planning Board and the Financial Planning and Economic Development Committee. A retired attorney, Simonetti has had valuable experience in negotiating controversy and resolving thorny issues. She will bring a thoughtful and effective approach to the work of the board.
The Chatham Dems are also happy to cross-endorse the incumbent candidates for Highway Superintendent, James Fetzer, and Town Justice, Michael Rosen.
