Town Board moves toward collaboration in park planning

The Town Board meeting on April 17 was attended by over 20 people, including in person and online attendance. The agenda was largely addressed by resolutions at the end of the meeting, and the tone of the meeting was generally collaborative.

Of note, relative to the last meeting on the Town board meeting on March 20, there was some apparent movement toward consensus and collaboration to address changes at Crellin Park. As promised, local Landscape Architect Wendy Carroll completed a pro bono report intended to identify and address planning and collaboration on projects-in-progress at the park for the current year. Her report will be on the Town website once edited and finalized. 

Anti Trump rallies across the nation

stand up for Democracy and Rule of Law

Close to 2500 people gathered at West Capitol Park in Albany** on Saturday, April 19 to say “Hands-Off!” to President Trump, his administration, and his supporters. The crowd in Albany was joined by thousands of people in other local cities and  nationwide, all gathered on Saturday to voice their opposition to President Trump’s administration and many of its policy initiatives.

Scheduled speakers and members of the assembled crowd spoke to protest the administration’s policies and actions related to a number of issues, including immigration policy, the recent illegal deportation of Abrego Garcia to El Salvador (with the implications that it has for all Americans), the destruction of our government agencies, the dismissal of public workers and abandonment of veterans, the flouting of court directives, and numerous other unconstitutional actions by the President and his administration. 

The consensus was that our democracy is under threat, and that the rule of law must be reestablished in our country NOW.

The rally was a part of the 50501 movement (50 protests in 50 states and one movement) and the theme was “Resist like it’s 1938 in Germany.”

At a time when immigrants are being deported without due process, and our neighbors who are immigrants are terrified, we have an opportunity to go to Albany to join a statewide mobilization for the NY for All bill that will help protect immigrants.  The NY for All bill would prohibit NY state and local government agencies and employees (including law enforcement) from asking about immigration status or turning over any immigration or identifying information to ICE agents without an independent judicial order.
The Immigration Task Force, started by ICNY,  is arranging carpooling.  If you are interested in carpooling, contact Task Force member Isa Mattei at imattei50@yahoo.com.  She will get back to you about plans.
